Are airlines using the same, or similar, outdated software, or is there something more going on here? Seems it's becoming more common lately.

The problems Delta had recently were supposedly due to a power failure at their data center.

Except GA Pwr wasn't the problem. No other carrier or biz at/near the airport reported problems.

Data centers don't simply run on grid power. Critical systems are tied into large banks of batteries that are supplied from auto-start standby generators if the grid goes down.

Just because GA Power didn't have issues doesn't mean there wasn't a problem with Delta's data center.

It was an internal switchgear that failed at Delta's data center, from the reports I read.

Computer system failures are not restricted to outdated software.
