Airbus tests DragonFly pilot assist that can automatically divert flights
The autonomous tech could help if the crew is incapacitated. Autonomous transportation assistance isn’t limited to cars. Airbus has started testing a pilot assistance feature, DragonFly, that could save an aircraft in an emergency. The system can automatically divert a flight in an emergency. In the world there are good pilots and there are poor pilots. As the number of poor pilots continues to increase the aircraft itself needs to do more and more to protect itself for safe flight. Just yesterday a Yeti crew let a perfectly good aircraft stall on a visual approach in good weather with the loss of all onboard. This is a much more common accident than a mechanical problem beyond any pilot’s capability causing an accident.
I just can't imagine... What could possibly go wrong... UGH (Sarcasm intended)...
