A General Aviation Safety Mirage?

The marked improvement in the light general aviation safety figures for 2013 is the cause of some controversy, and I get that. For years we doubted that the FAA was accounting accurately for all of the hours that we GA pilots were flying, making the accident rate seem artificially high.
