The three Airbus A330 aircraft join a long list of widebodies that the carrier has already decided to get rid of as it looks to restructure its fleet following the pandemic. One of the major problems is the storage of these aircrafts. Most of them have been parked at Suvarnabhumi et U-tapao airports in Thailand in high humidity environment. I was amazed while taxiing close to these aircrafts how much mildew was on their body, especially around the plastic wrapping taped to the windows, windshields and other parts of the aircraft. It would be interesting to see the inside condition as well as the cockpit and the electronics bays.

Moldy planes don't fly as well as fresh ones.

It would be good if the amounts already paid to creditors had included refunds in respect of flights cancelled due to the pandemic. Sixteen months after cancellation, all I can get from Thai Airways is an acknowledgement that a refund is due, and will be paid sometime in the future ..... unfortunately, because of their financial problems, they have court protection from legal action.

While other airlines get rid of their triple 7, Thai decide to get rid of the A 330. Within Thai their are a 2 groups and most ex military flyboys are Boeing pilots. The company that helps them with reorganisation is American and worked for the USA defence. Only those pilots and cabin crew with connections kept their jobs. Ian, most airlines have problems paying back tickets, bet we get more than 15 airlines within a half hour of research. Thai Airways is all about politics after all.

By the way those A 340's are for sale many years already, they "sold" only 01 to their own air force.
