How did Delta Air LInes awaken 570 dormant aircraft?

送信時刻:

Airlines parked planes for months much like athletes going on injured reserve in baseball or football. Players have to go through extensive rehabilitation and so do these planes to get them ready to return to the field of competition. (www.freightwaves.com) さらに...

My trust in these sites that require me to sign in or join, goes down the drain.

well jeez, yeah, duh, if you strip parts of parked planes it's going to take a while to get it back running. But if you park it , drain the fuel, seal all openings and charge batteries once in a while I don't see a big problem getting it back to working condition. Boeing probably knows a thing or two about storing them. overhyped story.

Thank you, CCP. The world doesn’t appreciate your generous contribution to global misery.

Interesting reminder of the complexity of running an airline.

Certainly no small feat. It took 2 years at 14 hours a day for us to bring Wise Guy (B-52) back into service after hibernation... and that was just to get it into the air. It still had another 18 months of upgrades make it mission ready.

Why would you list a source that require you to sign up for all their promotional emails to read that 1 article. don't list them.

No signup required here either.

I could read the article with no sign-up. One wonders what the difference is? One assumes it is not whether you are a Flightaware member.

Why list a source that requires one to sign-up. I don't need anymore junk on my emails.

Curious, I was able to read the piece just fine. No sign-up or paywall encountered.

Yeah, our system seems inconsistent. Sometimes asks for free sign up/registration, other times not.

Why require the sign up/registration at all??

The first time I accessed the article, I was not asked to sign up. The second time I accessed the article (after reading these comments) I was asked to sign up. Perhaps it is based on past contact or random chance?
