Delta's new Economy

送信時刻:

In October, Yahoo Travel reported that a major U.S. carrier was contemplating an “Economy Minus” class, which would be even worse than regular economy class. And guess what: it’s here. On Monday, Delta announced that the airline will have a hyper-restrictive new class of service called Basic Economy: no changes to tickets, no seat assignments, no upgrading. “Basic Economy is Delta’s way of lowering the price to fight Spirit and to attract the Spirit customer,” says business travel blogger Joe… (news.yahoo.com) さらに...

I think the market will decide this one.

You know, what is strange is that DAL is running one of the highest load factors out there. I really cannot understand why they'd want to try and get into this market in the first place. If it was Wall St, they just need to kiss off and let them run an airline. They have done a pretty good job so far with no help from those jerks.

I think this is a horrible idea.

Then don't fly with them.

I'd rather drive!

My guess is the seats will be full. I'll stick to my little bird and my ford truck.

They ain't going to have to worry about getting my money for this, although unlike some, I think DAL is a decent airline

DAL is fine except when I leave BNA got to go thru ATL. Not so with SWA.

I guess when the rapture comes, everybody in the Southeast will go out over ATL. LOL

I'd take Via or Amtrak before DAL

Actually, I think DAL is a pretty good airline. Not crazy about this offering though although some will go for it on a short trip. It is one thing to endure pain and suffering for a couple of hours but a whole 'nuther story on 6hr cross country or going across the pond.

You are right. This will be popular on short flight most of which have little competition, but on transoceanic flights the competition and the quality are high and folks will vote with their feet at which time DAL will be a double loser: they will lose the connecting flight to another hub and the overseas leg. My choices in Fort Myers to London are numerous bypassing ATL for YYZ, EWR, PHL, BOS, IAD and ORD. All one stop.

I must be the oddball in the bunch. I don't mind ATL or DFW; of course I am used to them, know my way around, and have my favorite watering holes. LOL

NWA was a better carrier than DAL will ever be. Call it my opinion, but I started as a flight engineer and never made it to command because of the merger. I took my leave and haven't been on one of their flights since.
preacher1
All else aside, NWA was much better from a pax standpoint, especially from a smaller airport. There are times if a problem arises that DAL just doesn't seem to care.
yr2012
DAL didn't care 25 yrs ago and still doesn't.
