Science fiction imagination as depicted in past renditions of war fighting in deep space would seem to be a window on the future. Sooner or later that which can be imagined becomes reality. Death rays, ray guns, etc. have been used ad nauseum in all depictions of space wars, star wars, etc. from the beginning. Here it is now being built and tested on an airborne platform after decades of research by DARPA as a surface to air and anti-satellite defensive weapon. This research is no doubt a prime target for espionage. But wait, Hussein Al Obama "has a pen and a phone" which he can use to cancel program funding or offer it up as part of his "increased flexibility" in this his second term in future strategic arms reduction (aka unilateral disarmament) talks with our adversaries.
