Ugly? Yeah, sort of...but in the "form follows function" vein and you think about its mission I'll bet the troops think it's pretty.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen one before. It sure is a huge helicopter.
That tail rotor looks as big as the main rotor on some small ‘copters.

Fresh out of depot maint.? Don't think so. This bird needs a good cleaning to remove all that hydraulic and oil stains. Looks like it should be on the way to depot maintenance.

Take off the rotors and this would be a great space ship prop in sci-fi.

Spent most of my AF career working on the USAF (slightly smaller) version MH53J PAVELOW Super Jolly Green Giant of this big beautiful beast. Over 3,000 saves for the AF just during my 17 years. I know the Navy and USMC have a great record as well. May seem ugly to some, but if you're ever in need of rescue, there's no more beautiful airframe around.
