Well I hate to tell you all this but American's did this to themselves. Everyone goes on and on about the glamour of air travel back in the day but back then it cost 5 grand to travel coast to coast in regular coach class and oil was basically free. So naturally airlines could give you 5 feet of leg room and filet mignon. Fast forward 40 years, now everyone wants to be in New York despite weather, mechanical safety and DONT you dare charge us more than a few hundred dollars and you BETTER feed me and quench my thirst and you better believe I am gonna complain the second its not going the way I WANT IT! America asked for affordable air travel and sadly that cost has to come from somewhere. You can't pay 500 dollars to fly to New York and expect a first class experience. If the plane leaves on time and arrives on time and you are not killed in the process, consider yourself blessed. Take your FREE coke and pay 6 dollars for the salad OR bring your own food and stop bitching about the seat

Its never a win for the airline. If they try to take him off before the flight everyone says they're over reacting and just trying to assert authority because they have some. Then in-flight when everyone claims that flight crews are useless all look to the flight crews when people like Ochinero snap for whatever ungodly reason and now look at all the money spent to divert. I agree, I am the first to kick em off if my flight attendants feel the slightest bit of weird from a guest. Sometimes we just don't need to take people where they want to go because once we are airborne, there is no where else to go! Good on the crew for at least zip tying him down and keeping everyone else safe. People are crazy and you never know what they will do!

Well all those "terrorists and crappy asian pilots" learn to fly in the US. Calling muslims terrorists and asian pilots crappy is the very definition of racist. Please stay far away from any flight deck I am in command of.

You don't even know what you are talking about. Can you even name all of the muslim countries? I thought flight aware contained a group of intelligent people. Not racists.

I found it amazing that this guy goes on for a while about his bags? YOU LIVED, no offense but that is the typical American attitude. I was just in a plane crash, where's my god dam bag?? You better get me my bag, I have a million kapillion dollars worth of everything in there. My bag hasn't been found yet? What do you mean? Why can't I get my bag back from the crashed airplane? You people weren't prepared for this? This is terrible customer service, my family needs our electronics, we wont know how to talk to each other otherwise. Seriously? Priorities, He mentioned his family in one sentence and spent two paragraphs on his bags. #flyingpublicsucks

Naturally...taking pictures isn't a big deal on planes and lets not forget this guy was in Business/First and probably had a "entitled" attitude about the situation. Two sides to a story, you assume it was an overzealous flight crew..how about just a jack ass in business as usual?

spend one week as a flight attendant with the general public..you will understand why they are so crazy sometimes. I don't agree with rude service but we all tend to forget that people are in-fact CRAZY in the world and you just never know what somebody is truly up to anymore. Americans like to live in a bubble of safety all of the time with an arrogant "we are number one" attitude but leaving Istanbul for the US and saying you're not a terrorist will raise questions and IT SHOULD. Everyone will bitch and moan until another 911 happens then you will be fine with overzealous flight crews and pilots and "theatrical security." It's not perfect by any means but in my opinion it's still too lax in America. What would have happened to that American Airlines flight if a flight crew hadn't questioned and been "overzealous" with the guy who had a bomb in his shoe?...everyone on that plane would be at the bottom of the atlantic. America will never boycott airlines, you need us more than we need y

Typical American attitude...thats why nobody likes the USA, you want everything brought to you. The world is INCREDIBLY beautiful and if you get a chance you should explore your country as well as others, it will broaden your horizons and by the way..the USA in terms of being inhabited is less than 300 years old. Europe, Asia, Africa are thousands and thousands of years with people on them...you should check out what they have to offer..not everything here in the USA is number one.
