why the guys on the wings?????
Pretty sure they're part of the team, and because its easier to ride on a wing than it is to walk :P .
Like Alex said, they're part of the pilots team.
But, as it was done in WWII, they provide guidance for taxiing to the pilot who can't see straight ahead over the nose. Like most taildraggers, they have to S turn while taxiing to see if the taxiway is clear in front of them.

I agree with Champdriver regards guidance. The guy on the left wing and pilot seem to be distracted while the guy on the right wing seems to be concerned about where the plane is heading (its well left of the centre of the taxi-way). Also, in WW2 the guy on the left would not have his leg hanging in front of the machine gun barrels!
That sounds about right, but neither of them seem to be paying attention?
ok i understand now. but where was this picture taken at and what were they doing??
This was at the EAA AirVenture 2013 in Oshkosh. The plane just landed, and they were taxi'ing it past the crowd.
oh i see...
I just noticed this, but is that a GoPro Camera under the Intake?
yes I believe it is.
