Robinson R-44 (N881KE)

Per Cirium: On Oct. 20, 2024 this 2002 Robinson R44 II, operated by Porter Equipment Holdings LLC, was destroyed by impact and post-impact fire when it struck a 1,000ft radio tower between Engelke and North Ennis Streets, Houston, Texas. The collision, which killed four people, including a child, also caused the tower to collapse. The accident happened in darkness (about 1954L) in VMC. The helicopter was operating a flight from Ellington Airport, Houston, Texas. An NTSB investigation revealed that the middle and top beacons on the tower were operating properly at the time of the crash.
