Water Salute: The wreck of N106US, Flight 1549-"Miracle on the Hudson" arrives a little after 12:00 on Friday, 10 June 2011 at the Charlotte Airport. This plane went into the Hudson River next to Manhattan in New York City after ingesting geese in the engines. It "ditched" (made a water landing) on January 15, 2009. After more than 2 1/2 years, it finally arrived at Charlotte, its original destination, except by truck. Captain "Sully" Sullenberger and his First Officer Jeffrey B. Skiles were at the controls and were later awarded the "Master's Medal" from the "Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators" for the "Most Successful Ditching in History." Greeted in Charlotte with a water cannon salute, the plane made its way across runway 18L to its new home where it will be displayed permanently at the Carolinas Aviation Museum, Charlotte Airport (KCLT), North Carolina USA.
