N370WB —
Comments
I had a very interesting conversation with the USAF pilot of an A-37B variant of this type circa 1980 who was making an in transit fuel stop at Thompson Field, KJAN, on his way cross country. He loved flying the "Dragonfly" (or "Super Tweet" if you prefer)... but he definitely lamented its lack of range! The Cessna A-37B type was eventually redesignated as the OA-37B by the USAF in the early 1980's.
The Tweet in the photo, N370WB, is a T-37C according to its FAA civil registration. It differs from the A-37B in lacking the A-37B's wing tip fuel tanks, additional under wing hard points, and additional under wing fuel tanks... along with a refueling probe. Different engines too on the "Super Tweet"!
N370WB carried USAF s/n 66-13618. Mr. Joe Baugher related the following information regarding this specific aircraft...
"66-13611/13621, Cessna T-37C, MSN 40967/40977. All sold to Peruvian AF".
"13618 (MSN 40974) sold from Peru to civil market as N7154W, later N370WB".
