KOAK - January 1996 I get a phone call at 10:00pm...Gary Plomp on the line from Watsonville, CA " Tom, get your *ss up to Oakland tomorrow by 07:00am the Connie is there, and head right to the United Airlines MX shops office, and ask for George Midwin, he'll let you in and a ramp pass, but you have to still have an escort". I thank Gary and called in sick for work at 05:00Am. I drove from Gilroy, CA back when one could drive from south of San Jose to Oakland in less than 1-hour( yes at the speed limit ) kinda, I arrive and it turns out George Midwin is like the Boss of all bosses at UAL Oakland Base MX..."
