Truly a great aircraft. Flew back from Hawaii many years ago to LA. Sat up stairs just behind the flight deck. Wonderful experience.

RIP Joe Sutter. Thank you for the 747. I think she is the most beautiful airliner of all time. Watching this magnificent aircraft climb out...I never get tired of it. And I personally find great comfort in the fact that there are four engines blasting out thrust, especially when hours away from any coastline. I will miss the old girl when she's gone.

Love the airplane. Always flew between Frankfurt and JFK. Most memorable flight was from Frankfurt to San Francisc in 1990. Flew on a 747 Combi freighter. Same 747 comforts but only 1/3 the number of passengers. Lufthansa pilots were always the best. They would give you flight information all along the flight route westbound. Seeing icebergs drifting away from Greenland was really awesome.

Wow Doug ! That's a great story. Seems like we all have a special memory of her.

I'm still waiting to fly on one. Love to watch them.
