ANZ B789 at Auckland on Jul 16th 2016, electrical burning odour on board
An ANZ Air New Zealand Boeing 787-900, registration ZK-NZG performing flight NZ-103 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Sydney,NS (Australia), was climbing out of Auckland's runway 23L when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet reporting an electrical burning odour on board. The aircraft positioned for an immediate return to Auckland's runway 23L and landed safely about 12 minutes after departure. The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights. I work for ANZ at AKL jet base. the aircraft was towed to the hanger the old DC10-30 hanger which still houses many air new zealand aircraft. It was found to be a faulty wiring in the aft economy class cabin area which the in flight movie screen panel was the problem. ZK-ZNG has returned to the skies and flying high. Nobody was at risk and the aircraft landed perfectly
