I would think Spirit would be a bigger worry to the lower cost carriers on those same routes rather than DAL, unless these are routes on which DAL has no competition.
That depends really on how far low cost carriers would go towards Spirit. I seen big carriers fall from grace. But with budget carriers it keeps the big carriers from ripping passengers off with higher airfares.
