Actually, AA had been using a nearly paint-free livery from the 1930s, with its venerable orange lightning bolt motif lasting until the late 60s, and after that there was still just the red, white and blue "cheat line" running the length of the fuselage. Subsequent to that, the Airbus fleet's particular aluminum alloy composition required more body paint, but even then, the color chosen was a silvery gray, approximating the bare aluminum look of the past. With the merger makeover,it appears the intent was the same, but the tail design is a complete abomination, in my opinion. I'd take the retro look referenced in the article, lightning bolt and all, any day.

The only photos of the VC-25A I've seen show the two sets of self-contained airstairs on the LEFT side, with their respective positions as describe below, by 30west Thus my confusion about the mention of the forward airstairs being located on the right, to accommodate the a/c being parked at a standard gate on the left. But the presidential plane is not parked at a commercial-style gate, so there is no conflict. The illustration referenced is, of course the configuration for a civilian 747-8 Again, all the photos I've seen of the both forward and aft airstairs actually in use show them on the left side of the a/c.

Re: "Even the stairs, traditionally on the left side of Air Force One, will likely need to be swapped over from the right side where Boeing currently installs them." Can someone explain this seemingly contradictory statement?

Re: "don't want anybody "carrying" on board except sky marshal" But what happens when the sky marshal leaves her gun on the lavatory counter when she returns to her seat, as happened recently?

Actually, it looks too much like the CURRENT Delta livery.

Good for him! Now, will this spark a revolution demanding the same from the ranks of other entitled, "professional CEOs" with far lower levels of skill and accomplishment? It's about time.

Interesting, as I find the new font the best part of the refresh. I'd always thought the previous font rendered the word "Alaska" a bit unclear, especially as a first impression.

Dogfight? Hardly. Both Libyan pilots might as well have declared they were on a suicide mission as they continued to approach the F-14s while the U.S. pilots repeatedly gave them the "benefit of the doubt". The Libyan military should have left the pilots to swim home as punishment for such stupidity!

Among the charges he faces will NOT be attempting to deliver the mail without proper postage. In his home video, he can be seen affixing stamps to the envelopes. Maybe he should get a job with amazon.com, where his delivery skills will be more appreciated.
