Cuz they were busy tryin to figure out how to just make it fly and sell. Especially after a hydraulics system failure. The days of we can fund anything are long gone but the admins who grew up in that environment are still wagging the same dog. The shuttle reminds me of when we could. The F35 reminds me of why we can't, or at least shouldn't. Good idea Torsten, but then they'll say we can replace the A-10 with it!

The same whiz kids that designed or laid out specs for the Osprey are probably the same ones that designed the F-4's without guns, saying we wouldn't be dogfighting anymore. Somebody forgot to relay that to the MIG's over North Vietnam.

Indeed, instead of replying in such a manner, even though you may not have been computer savvy, here is a suggestion: "Oops, sorry, I did not mean to shout, not being computer literate etc etc..". That would have been the end of it. Incidentally, Peter, how do you feel when having to read a sheet of paper, you know, a real one, all written in CAPITAL LETTERS? Anyway, I wish you and all a saf festive season and verry merry Christmas, hoping that most of those destructive machines we create stay on the ground for that time at least..

Yes the A-10 is a flying tank. The V-22 is a insertion craft two totally different missions.

I really wish that Goldwater's philosophy would have been followed in Vietnam rather than let it try and be micromanaged from DC. Some 50.000+ GI's and airmen probably feel the same. Sad part is that the same thing is evolving in the mid east as we speak, managed by a community organizer that won't come in off the golf course in time to let boots on the ground do something that needs done right now.
