This is another example of the press wanting to alarm vs inform. The article implies don't trust the airline. The reason for the ban is because they don't like "fat passengers and young parents", not because "seats have been installed with new airbag systems and safety belts, which cannot accommodate passengers with a girth wider than 56 inches (142.24 centimetres)." Tomorrow we will see a follow up article titled "Thai Airways discriminates against coach class passengers on their new Boeing Dreamliner 787-9".

The title is alarming because it comes from the media, but the message to airlines to keep up with technology is positive and on target.

Isn't this more because Eastern was sold out vs. about the MRJs?

I think we're slowly drifting away from true aviation related topics. There are plenty of other sites for political issues.

Boeing porn! Stunning.

The article hints taking selfies is dangerous. If there's a story in this, it should answer the questions posted by others, i.e., why did the aircraft not see the truck? Why did the pilot land with a truck so close to the strip? Why was a truck parked so close to the strip? Is the strip official?

Misleading title. The article states "Last week, Washington banned electronic devices bigger than mobile phones on direct flights to the United States from 10 airports in seven Middle Eastern countries and Turkey. Britain followed with a similar ban from five countries from the Middle East and North Africa, and Turkey." Yet title makes it sound as the ban is widespread.

Reminds me of someone not wanting to issue marriage certificates to gay couples, even when that person's job is to issue marriage certificates. Anyone who believes their job infringes on anything personal should seek another job that doesn't.
