The media is all-in for anything they can find negative or controversial. It's doubtful that they got information from those who they attempt to vilify. They also failed to mention that the total number of airplane fatalities in the last 50 years is about the same as the number of traffic deaths EVERY YEAR. The fact remains that the number one cause of private aircraft fatalities is non-instrument-rated pilots flying into bad weather. The facts are very clear that most crashes are caused , at least in part, by pilot error, many times by pilot stupidity. Most media personnel don't even know what makes an airplane fly, much less what makes one crash.

anyone who lives in America and owns a large private jet is already helping the poor by paying big taxes. Maybe they were considered poor at one time, and decided to go to work and fix that problem.

The media doesn't know what makes airplanes fly, and they don't have a clue what makes one crash. The NTSB will determine the cause, and will probably issue a preliminary report , after studying the data on the CVR and FDR. Isn't it amazing that everything except an airliner is a "small plane " ?. Wonder if they know a G IV costs about $50M new. Todd is right about any "expert " commentary about the cause.

Anyone surprised that the non-union airline has the best service?

I knew there were reasons why I fly my own plane. (it's not a jet) saves time, no hassle, no obnoxious passengers, no waiting, no TSA, no lost baggage, and I set my own schedule.

if they want to talk on a cell phone put them in the back in a "cell phone" section like the former smoking section. Better yet- just ban them . There would be idiots talking non-stop

I gotta believe the insurance companies will have the final say.Who wants to insure a $100m+ plane with potentially billions of dollars of liability that only has one pilot on board? The increases in insurance costs will probably more than offset the savings of the pilot salary. Notwithstanding the lost revenue of passengers that won't fly with only one pilot.

I have tried repeatedly to post a comment/protest to the proposed rule, but the system won't accept it. the 121.5 works fine, and the odds of using an ELT are extremely low. Only the gov't can waste money like tis.

The whole idea of sequestration is to scare the public into pressuring congress to raise taxes and grow government. Most people know nothing about the FAA or GA.If the administration can scare the public by telling them it isn't safe to fly, that helps the gov't push for user fees. Only the Federal gov't can have an agency budget of $16B and try to convuince the public that's not enough. if they had $20B that still wouldn't be enough. Let them close towers, and they will see that safety isn't compromised. When Reagan fired all the controllers during the illegal strike, that was a lot more radical than closing towers, and we survived just fine.
