PHL-ABE operates with a CRJ several times a week. 55 miles direct, under 15 min flying time.

Schumer has always been noted as an aviation-centered Senator. He is constantly fighting for better Air Service in the upstate NY communities, so it doesn't surprise me that he is bringing up this issue in congress. With that said, I agree with others. At time of booking, it has never been hard to select several seats together unless of course you're booking last minute. Also, I've seen people frequently give up seats so families can sit together and in some cases, even get rewarded with a seat in first class if one is available. Gate agents are usually accommodating, unless the family request is something extremely specific...ie wanting to sit together but in the first row of seats to the nearest coach emergency exit.

Glad to see United is keeping the Q400's in the Express fleet. I wonder if another regional carrier will pick up the SAAB's that Colgan is dumping as well. While Silver Airways picked up the EAS Colgan routes, I wonder if the ABE, BGM, etc will be transferred to another carrier...ie ExpressJet, Republic, Trans State, etc. Currently, one of the SAAB ABE-IAD routes got transferred to ExpressJet...wonder if that signals where United is taking these routes.

I agree- I know they're dumping the EAS routes. I'm more curious of the non-EAS routes. Are they considering dropping them as well or switching equipment types?

With Pinnacle removing the turboprops from their operations, what does this mean for communities served solely by SAAB's or Q400's (non-EAS cities)? For example, the Colgan Routes out of IAD- while several to the smallest communities (EAS) will be removed, what about routes such as IAD-BGM, IAD-ABE, etc. Both ABE and BGM have CRJ2 service to DTW on Pinnacle, but only turboprop to IAD via Colgan.

We were the first flight out of Allentown (ABE) this morning and it was mass confusion. It took 4 agents to check us in, 2 with manuals and a few phone calls to HQ to get it all straightened out. Speaking with passengers in O'hare said check-in there was quite crazy. Anyone that checked in last night had to re-check in this morning, as the online boarding passes did not provide sequence numbers used with the new system. All-in-all, everyone was pretty cooperative and nothing got out of hand in terms of rudeness or lack of customer service.
