Once a president is elected who knows about military issues, I would hope to see more knowledgeable leaders in the military. For the last 6 years the "commander in chief" has just had yes generals running the military his way.
I've been through the buyout of TWA by American Airlines. AA told they Politicians & the public that they wouldn't make any big changes. That lasted a year, then they started laying off the TWA workers, moved flights to other Airports to keep their HUBs busy,& broke most of the great service promises. It didn't take them long to change the rules on Frequent Flyer miles either. AA pushes Frequent Flyer miles, but if you use them for busy routes, you'll find you can't get a seat unless it is not a popular time /route. Maybe this "merger" will be better for the customers this time around.
It seems like the TSA makes work for themselves. I had a US Government TS security clearance, and airport credentials which gave me full access to anywhere in the entire airport. You guessed it, When I traveled I always got diverted to the suspect line for a more through inspection. The TSA inspectors knew me, but they didn't know why I got sent to them. I think the TSA has been built up by inept appointed polititions, and they have people who do nothing but make lists of names for checkouts.
I wonder if the people who picked the thinner seat cushion material just sat down and decided it was good. Have the people who picked the seats sit in them for 3 hrs to see how they really feel. Having worked with "beancounters" anything that saves a nickel is great to them.
