First aeroplane for RAF basic flying training. Great fun and flew cadets from Cambridge AEF whilst awaiting conversion . If only their mums knew who were flying their sons and daughters around ! Brand new shining wings straight from training !!
Was in the boy's airforce in the UK so had a number of air experience flights (as did countless others...). The cartridge starter was quite normal although the Tiger Moth, which had a similar engine, was hand started. Chippies still are around and much loved, understandably.
In late 60s, air experience flights with RAF whilst at school, at Roborough, Plymouth, including aerobatics! Then obtained, with Fleet Air Arm award, Pilots Licence using Club Chipmunks - hand start only! I'll never forget the experience and joy of flying and performing aerobatics in this outstanding aircraft.
