Engine manufacturers to submit their proposals for the 797

送信時刻:

Seattle - Boeing marks an essential milestone on the way to the 797. All three major engine builders to submit their propulsion concepts for the model that will hit the middle of the market. June 27 was supposed to be the deadline to submit their engine concepts for manufacturers for the Boeing New Mid-Market Airplane (NMA). Boeing envisions an engine with 45,000 pounds of power, which is 25 percent more economical than the drives of predecessor 757. (airlinerwatch.com) さらに...

Now if we only could get airframe designs as coherent as these engines.

797 actually, but that aside, I assume you are a connoisseur of high-bypass turbofans. Yes indeed the Trent 1000 Series C can be had on 787. While I do not assume that everything RR makes is super-fine, I keep my eye on them simply because of the Merlin (not a jet I know, but within that engine type, it was never surpassed). While the Trent series has had strong competition, I think the proposal for the 797 has some serious promise. Now if RR will deliver.

My comment is actually about design trade-offs in the universal-two-engine-jet-airliner, the airframes. Modern engines, in all honesty, are pretty amazing.
