Delta Flight Attendant Charged With Being Drunk On The Job

Here's a twist on the drunk in air story. A Delta flight attendant was arrested before her flight took off from Bluegrass Airport in Kentucky and charged with being drunk when her blood alcohol level registered way over the legal limit. Attendant Nancy Bray, 58, was scheduled to fly Delta Connection Flight 6095 to Detroit, operated by Chautauqua Airlines. Mainline collective bargaining agreements often have passes built in for being caught intoxicated in the job. A regional airline is less likely to have its' options limited in such cases.

I can't imagine a worse career choice than flight attendant if one has a drinking problem. Add to that commuter bird and all the headaches that go with that.

Interestingly enough, another flight attendant was arrested in Lexington a few years back. There was a video on YouTube showing her acting out in the jailhouse. She had very bizarre behavior and only blew a ".03". She had to be on something combined with alcohol. If this flight attendant blew a .258, she definitely has increased tolerance which is indicative of alcoholism. There have been over 4500 pilots that have gone through the FAA's HIMS program. That includes me. Had that been a pilot and they join the program, the probability returning to the cockpit is high. Probably not with the same company though.
