The United States (US) is set to kick in new tariffs on aircraft parts from France and Germany. The move comes after the US and the European Union (EU) failed to reach an agreement on a 16-year-old dispute over aircraft subsidies. This is basically a head fake. The market is down for new aircraft and Airbus has lots of capacity in Europe and now China. When they run out of duty free parts they will merely divert the needed production out of Mobile. The real question is how the A-220 production be effected as US airlines are waiting for them.
A220 does have some parts mfged in France and Germany as well. What the USTR office failed to recognize is how these tariffs will also hit Boeing. They too have many parts come in from Germany and France
