Freight workers, pilots press for priority vaccinations

Even if HEPA filters good people will want to get vaccinated.
So, the airlines claims of safety due to HEPA were just fabrications?
Pilots and other staff are not on board of aircraft 24/24, they could get infected anywhere. As they are essential workers it makes sense to protect them trough vaccination in order to keep supply lines open.
It’s a slippery slope. With that criteria, you could add aviation mech’s, airport snow plow operators, ATC, flight dispatch/briefer, customs, the trucks moving the freight, baggage handlers, whoever made the goods being shipped, etc etc. Keeping in mind that there are risks with the vaccine, a yet to-be-determined period of effectiveness and the risks of long-term COVID, pilots would be wise to let the other industries become the guinea pigs.

You are right, this could be a slippery slope, it has to be well thought out. My comment was an answer to your allusion that the presence of HEPA filters on aircraft giving protection was a fabrication.
I was just being sarcastic. On the one hand there was the airline executives claiming 100% safety and ALPA raising the issue of high risk. To create the best optic, the two groups would better consulting and agreeing instead of sending confusing messages to the public. For the most part, the general public is pretty much ignorant of aviation issues, so these kinds of mixed messages will only fan the fear COVID issues and delay any recovery of the air transportation industry. Working together, teamwork, consistency are vital.
