Apple's board of directors requiring CEO to fly private

送信時刻:

Apple's board of directors is now making CEO Tim Cook fly on private aircraft when he travels, whether for work or for pleasure. "This policy was implemented in 2017 in the interests of security and efficiency based on our global profile and the highly visible nature of Mr. Cook's role as CEO," Apple said in a shareholder proxy statement released Wednesday afternoon. I think we're slowly drifting away from true aviation related topics. There are plenty of other sites for political issues.

Actually, this is about taxes.

Apple is sitting on enough cash to buy him an airplane.
And a few airports to boot.

True; Yet he chose to fly commercial, instead of those car manufacturer CEOs who flew private jets down to Washington to ask for a bailout when their industry tanked.

When I worked for Apple Computer as a District Sales Manager (a fancy name for peddler) they squashed my flying for company business even though I paid for the flying myself. Too much liability for the company, they said, even if I was not carrying passengers. I was told that Apple was extremely sensitive about lawsuits after Steve Wozniak flew himself and others to Lake Tahoe (?) for a meal. On takeoff he apparently did not have a good rate of climb and flew into some trees and some of them were hurt. If I recall the story correctly from 30+ years ago, it wasn't good for the company image for one of the founders to have done all this operating with a STUDENT pilot's license.

WHO CARES ...Not I !!!!

It is certainly a boost for general aviation to have business leaders discover the economies of flying private. While the price of plane and pilot may be higher than an airline ticket, the savings of time more than makes up for it.

Sadly executive protection has become a serious consideration for public companies, and the expense while seeming large is far less than the consequences of not protecting those people.

Keeping executives and celebrities out of the public portions of airports also keeps them off TMZ.

Running Apple he shouldn’t have to endure TSA or airport traffic. Apple should have use of moffett field just like google has exclusive access

So, you think both Apple & Google should have 'exclusive' access to Moffet field.
I thought exclusive was one or the other but not both. How do you see that working?
