Virgin Spaceship Two Unveiled

送信時刻:

Sir Richard likes to call his space adventures the beginning of a 'Space Airline'. One wonders about it's true potential. Boost to high altitudes with almost negligible speed relative to the Earth below is one thing. But it is not "space TRAVEL". Will this project be forever restricted to zero speed at start of descent? Are the working at all on the problems of orbital re-entry? I think this linked story is telling in that the author says to took a few moments to… (www.space.com) さらに...

Private space venture is the greatest advance in aviation in recent memory.

Hey, I'm just glad someone in the United States is trying to get into space! :-)
OzarkTrail
That is called inherent risk.
Bernie20910
Wait... if it's unveiled is it still a virgin?

This is the greatest current AND misleading put on -and costing 1/4 million bucks for a few minutes of weightlessness- for this contraption IS NOT GOING TO REACH SPACE AT ALL 100 km up is nothing. Space is flying to the Moon and beyond. Go suckers pull your wallets for uncle Richard needs the dough.
Bernie20910
For the life of me I cannot figure out why you're so down on this Chalet. Just what IS your problem with private enterprise doing this? Why are you objecting to a private company spending their own money to make the attempt? Exactly how does this hurt you that you object so strongly to it?

OzarkTrail
Baby steps before one giant leap.

NASA and Neil Armstrong have already done that almost 50 years ago. The cost to go to speace is so terribly expensive that private entrepreneurs will never be able to do that.
OzarkTrail
It is terribly expensive because of the beurocracy involved.
The idea is that an entrepreneur can streamline the process much easier then a socialist Congress. Making space travel efficient and likely safer in the long run.

Dream on, you got to be a GOPper
OzarkTrail
Also not to mention the entrepreneurs themselves are footing the bill not the American tax payer.

Wrong, Branson is making the unsuspecting and naive "customers" pay up a quarter of a million dollars EACH for a silly flight to 100 km altitude for a few seconds of weightlessness.
OzarkTrail
Exactly!
Customers who are willing to pay for it with their own money.
Not your money.
So who cares?
Free enterprise is the bases of our economy.

It is their skin and their wallets (this world is full of johns who fell for some absurd "adventure" broached by admen without realizing how dangerous this is.
Bernie20910
No one who was alive to see or hear of Apollo 1, Apollo 13, Challenger or Columbia should have any notion that spaceflight is without risk, nor do I believe they are being told otherwise by anyone. Indeed, the training they have to receive in emergency procedures and equipment operation, not to mention the large stack of forms they will have to sign and be witnessed, all speak to that inherent danger. And Again I ask, just what is your problem with what others do with their money? Really, the only thing that keeps coming to mind when I read your ceaseless objections is that you're showing jealousy. Is that it?

Yeah right jealousy (of what). Since you are all for these misleading advertisements I have a nice beachfront place by the Mediterranean at cut rate price, you will ove it.
Bernie20910
So what is it then, if not jealousy, that has you so vehemently opposed to what other people are willing to pay for with their own money?
