Nice airplane...high speed for a turbo prop with good range (360k/1500 miles) which allows it to compete favorably with the regional jets. Porter Air took out 8 seats which allows them to use the short runways on Toronto Island in downtown Toronto (3900 feet).

I had my first flight in a Q400 (Horizon Air) this past year. It was a great flight, and surprisingly quiet. With enough room for 2-2 seating, it was also larger than I expected, although I wouldn't call it "roomy" by any stretch of the imagination. For flights of less than 2 hours, I much prefer this aircraft to the small regional jets, especially the claustrophobic Embraer 135/145 series.

They should be renamed SpiceProp.

Come on. The Embraers are just fine for their up-to-2-2.5 hrs. flights they were designed for, you don't have time to get tired of the little room available.
AND, they're jet, meaning you get faster where you're going... no time to get tired :)
