Better yet, to scare the you know what out of him, treat him for a while like he is an international terrorist...then take the whole Encyclopedia Brittanica collection and throw it at him.

How about a civil suit from all the passengers for their time lost and missed connections, and the airlines time and lost revenue/profit? That would be serious $$ and would deter idiots like this next time.

Maybe Mr. Galaska assumed he'd be screened by TSA.

Apparently, this man has only been charged with "Mischief", a non indictable offence? He has been released on a paltry $5000 bail, and allowed to return to the US. Who knows if he'll even shoe up for the trial. Unlikely if convicted, that there would be any jail time, no doubt a small fine?
I think he should have been charged under our "Civil Aeronautics" Act, which would have been a much more serious offence, with severe penalties. This was not a "Joke"! He held up the aircraft and the passengers for hours.

An American man has been charged with mischief after a fake bomb was found in a Chicago-bound passenger’s luggage at Pearson International Airport.
