Love the story about how the russians reverse engineered the metalurgy for the turbine blades in the first MIG. Visiting the plant where they were made in Britain with gum-soled shoes the Russians were able to reverse engineer the components that had adhered.

We had a MIg-29 at Mojave a few years a ago. It was a Ukrainian AF aircraft also.Part of the North American Tour Got some pictures of it in the air and on the ground.
As an aircraft inspector I was oarticularly interested in looking over the construction of the aircraft. Found bi-metallic corrosion around the fasteners as well as other anomalies. Soviet aircraft might go faster, highewr etc. but US workmanship is better

For a short time, MIG-29 can be seen "up close" at HISTORIC FLIGHT FOUNDATION, SE KPAE.

Cool. I hope everything will check out right. It'll be great to see this plane fly in to Boeing Field over the summer!
