A question for the critics of the police - how would you have stopped the plane? Please provide a realistic answer bearing in mind the circumstances and the time available.

I am not a critic. He did what he needed to in order to stop them. Hit a little hard, but the aluminum in the wing is soft. Once he hit the left aileron it was over. If they would have taken off they probably would have crashed big time.

yes richard same in oz but I have a brazillian friend staying with me and he says there the police do what they want and work very hard to stop corruption

The way it should be, get the job done. It always frustrates me to see a police "chase" where they are not chasing at all but merely following while endangering everyone along the way. Chase implies you are actually trying to catch. Either get it done or call it off. Good job getting it done on this one.

Reminds me of the time I accidentally forgot to pay my landing fee while in the Bahamas. Two police cars chased me all the way down to the departure end of the dirt runway! I handed them the $10 bill through my window...and they were real happy. No guns or bumps though :-0

Very courageous, yet risky. What if the plane blew up from wing fuel? Or what if there were innocent lives on the plane not knowing about the cargo? How about the safety of the police in the car? I think, there should be better ways for stopping a plane. The DEA should be equipped with similar planes and some other tech and weaponary advantages in order to fight such crimes.
