This has been discussed at length on this forum. The issue is whether the loan to Bombardier from the Federal Government or the outright purchase of stock by the Quebec government constitutes a subsidy which will be a stretch to prove. Embraer is making the same allegation.
The Quebec stock purchase looks rather intuitive as the value of that stock has risen over 20% since last year when they acquired it. If the Federal loan is paid back at least in part by the company that part will be hard to sustain.
Actually the feds have already paid much of the cost of the loan by not having to pay unemployment, welfare for the workers while at the same time collecting income tax from those same well paid employees. The C-series is selling well enough to keep them going for years.
We will see how serious the Federal government are as Boeing has large orders with WestJet and Air Canada to which similar tariffs could be applied. They can also begin to search for a replacement from other suppliers for Canada does not really need all the bells and whistles...it needs range and reliability.

Damn... So many Yankees comments, today...
Justin, don't worry. Boing is aging an old technology, they played the same
throat-cutting game with Airbus, a couple of decades ago and even Bozo the Trump won't be able to make Boing "great again" !

Once they took over McDonnell Douglas Boeing thought the marketplace was theirs by divine right. WRONG there will always be competition in any hi-tech aviation marketplace. If Bombardier C-Series burns 20% less fuel than other jets in that class. Less carbon in the atmosphere. What have Boeing or Airbus done to compete with that? Nothing but obstruction and dishonest sales practices...and of course threatening to impose tariffs. America wants an open marketplace soley for American products, if you are not an American company the rules change for competitors. American hypocrisy makes me sick.

What in this brain-dead statement has anything to do with aviation. NOTHING. IF IT IS NOT CONSTRUCTIVE OR RELATED TO THE TOPIC STICK YOUR FINGERS IN CRAZY GLUE, THEN CAREFULLY ATTACH EACH FINGER TO THE OTHER...AND WAIT. HMM PRETTY HARD TO TYPE STUPID THINGS WHEN YOUR FINGERS ARE STUCK. Think before you say nasty things about Canada's Prime Minister.

Trudy shouldn't have even stuck his nose into this.

You mean he actually pulled his head out of his ass long enough to make a call. He seems more interested in socks and selfies.

Yes he got a brain of his mother and a look with his father and that's all he got.

How many languages do you speak? Is your IQ above 130? Didn't think so. Lay off Trudeau.
