Is This The Most Dangerous Takeoff Ever Captured On Video?

送信時刻:

These old Antonovs were built to plow through just about anything within reason, but these pilots throw reason into the mud. (youtu.be) さらに...

Can you imagine doing the weight and balance on the flight? Empty weight check, fuel load check, passenger weight check, 500 pounds of mud on the fuselage......umm check.

OMG this is every rednecks dream.....screw crop dusting and a John Deere the Russians have perfected a way to plow the fields using a plane.

And what would you know about so-called rednecks, plowing a field or crop dusting except what you've seen or read? Not much I suspect.
onceastudentpilot
It was a joke but apparently I struck a nerve...lol....besides you have no idea what I know

When the tower tells approaching planes "Caution... wake turbulence", I bet many don't think of the wake being muddy water.
TorstenHoff
I'm sure the captain's shorts are just as muddy now...
conmanflyer
It's what those planes were designed to do. but in anycase, CHECK OUT THAT RUDDER! :D learn a thing or two from that guy!
captainjman
There are bold pilots and there are old pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots
conmanflyer
thank god im still young!

Would that qualify as parasitic drag...maybe?
smoki
smoki 1
Well there's generally only two kinds at that speed, i.e. parasitic and induced. Do you think it could have been induced drag in accordance with the usual aerodynamic convention? Just curious.

They were on the virge of needing a seaplane.

Looks good to me. He's a Russian, they told him to go fly, he did! You guys never flew freight did you.
danishnelson
Okay, many problems here. The plane could have veered of runway, land gear could have shot because of drag, the plane could have all of a sudden stopped, and too much mud indigestion in the air intake and engines!!!!

Its amazing that the plane got off the ground!
conmanflyer
(in response to the first sentence)- but it didn't
unclebigpete
and it's obvious (IMHO) from the other videos of takeoffs in different seasons that the airport in question ALWAYS has a wet/muddy runway, so hundreds of similar takeoffs, probably by the same pilots, have been successful. It's skill, local knowledge, and large gonads!
nickpiszczek
3 could haves that never happened. You have to love pilots that understand the machine its capabilities and its engines. They got the job done while sideliners sit in there easy chairs. This happens every day somewhere on some level with freight dogs, and there is rarely a camera around to record it. Its amazing how many nay Sayers there are on this clip...It only presupposes we would have never got off the ground.
nickpiszczek
Historically that is...Orville and Wilbur would be beaming.
RogParish
Landing is going to be fun after all that mud on the landing gear freezes up at altitude!

He'll just descend down to treetop level for a good brushing.

He's flown that plane a few times. I'd be on heart medicine if it were me.

Found the footage on youtube which works better for me.

It's Russia that explains it all .. were these pilots drunk too ?

Anybody can learn to fly sober. Vodka increases risk tolerance too.

U could say the same for Alaska...

My question is why did he retract the gear so soon? After a muddy take off wouldn't it make sense to get the plane up to max gear extended speed to "blow" off any extra mud?

WALLACE24
WALLACE24 2
Maybe he wanted to decrease drag real soon

How the f***??
pilatuspilot
That was insane. I want to know how they calculated takeoff distance.
unclebigpete
1 Measure runway length
2 allow 100feet for turning at end
etc

LOL

Here's the onboard footage:

Different day. The outdoor one is snowy, the onboard one isn't

I would have been scared out of my pants if I had been on that plane. However, I am sure the crew knew exactly the length of runway they needed for take-off, at the same time keeping in mind how much runway they needed brfore abhorting take-off.
Risky, but in my mind well calculated.
jmilazzo
That dumda$$ is lucky the gear came down at his destination. If I were that company's mechanic, I think I'd hunt down the crew and make them clean the wheel wells.
