B-52H flying a low-level training mission
Comments
Now that's what I call "low level"! Based on his known wingspan, I estimate he is at 100 feet AGL. Normally the minimum height for VFR flying, unless actually taking off or approaching for a landing, is 5 times that height!
There used to be low level training routes for SAC bombers marked on FAA sectional maps in the U.S.A. These were referred to as "Oil Burner" routes and "Heavy Wagon" routes as I recall. General aviation aircraft were advised to exercise caution when flying near these marked routes at low altitude.
Thanks cliff. I hadn't heard of those designations for their training routes on the FAA sectionals.
You are welcome, Chris! :-)
