As a young Civil Air Patrol during the late 1950's we had these visitors to Portland Airport in Maine in this livery.
Sometimes we/d see two or three of them a day!!! It was a wonderful time then; "sky dreamers" we were and these were our horses. When I was 23 I flew on one of these (or, maybe a DC-6B) to Boston - on my way to Vietnam - then onto a DC8 "Heavy" for the run into Saigon. I was among the Lucky ones, never got hit and never killed anyone.
Time is fleeting now, and I'm a 'passenger' in some 'time airplane' outward bound for the stars . . .
