Northrop RF-5 Tigereye (76-1580)
The VFC-13 "Fighting Saints" Black Tiger, a Northrop F-5N Tiger II (761580), flares waaay back as it is about to touch down on KNFL's runway 31L as it returns to NAS Fallon after completing its sortie as an adversary warbird in a training mission.

This F-5N was one of the two most distinctive warbirds that landed directly in front of us yesterday. The other EXTREMELY distinctive aircraft was the F-18 with the name "Capt Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell" under the canopy -- the Navy warbird that will soon make its big screen appearance this November when Top Gun II starring Tom Cruise finally opens in movie theaters across the country. It was the second time I've captured that distinctively painted warbird landing at NFL. The first time, Tom Cruise was in the rear seat waving. This time, I don't think he was aboard since the movie is finished and just being held for release until movie theaters are all reopened to full audience capacities.
Very nice, Gary!

Glad you're still here with us!!
It is my understanding that most, if not all of those F-5N's were bought back from the Swiss after an earlier FMS sale. Some have very slick avionics which hone Adversary squadrons for both services. These squadrons/schools are essential in keeping an edge against enemy aircraft who constantly monitor our strategy and tactics at Fallon and Nellis.
It's the never before seen MiG 28!
Great shot
