Does anyone know the registration of the saberliner? News reports stated it's owned by BAE systems

The big sky got really small really fast...prayers to the families of the deceased.

I'm in San Diego and there have been no new developments at this time as to who was making what kind of approach or if the Cessna was working the pattern. Unofficial ID of the 172 is N1285U. Lots of mixed traffic at this airport.

I'm just kinda curious. According to FA, KSDM has a tower and both planes were reported as inbound. What happened?

Comments on one site speculated since the runways are parallel that one of them lined up on the wrong one and got run over. Just speculation.

makes sense. But again, was no one watching the store? As in the tower?

Anything is possible at this point. There's no ILS or Localizer approaches at KSDM so I'm thinking both were flying visual approaches to the parallel runways. Maybe the Cessna extended his base into the path of the Sabreliner? But like Preacher said, they were under the tower's control so what happened? But in a see and be seen environment, sadly someone didn't.
