Last time I saw her, she was static display in early 80's in front of 91st bomb group restaurant in MEM. I heard she went somewhere for multi year restore. Good to see her flying again.

The "real" Memphis Belle is at the National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton, Ohio. It has been there since a final exhibition at an airshow in Millington, Tennessee in 2005. The Belle arrived at the museum in October 2005 and was placed in one of the Museum's restoration hangars. The B-17 shown in this video was used in the making of the 1990 movie "Memphis Belle". I wondered about that. Saw her on the restore list at that museum but didn't remember any near term plans to fly again.

I was assigned to the 3205th Drone Squadron at Eglin AFB (Duke Fld #3) in the late 1950's where our aircraft (B26s / RB26s (and B17s / RB17 were flown over the Gulf Of Mexico in Mother Ship and Remote Control Drones configurations during the development and testing of Ground to Air Missiles (GAM's and GAR's). Those Drones that survived the mission were brought back to the field if they could still be safely flown by the ground controllers. Did not fly in the 17's but enjoyed many hours in the B-26.
