Qantas plans to offer a non-stop 19 hour flight between Australia and the UK within two years.
The airline's chief executive Alan Joyce said there were plans to fly the journey between Perth and London using its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner by 2017.
Mr Joyce said the Boeing 787-9 had the range to be able to make the 14,000 kilometre journey, which would make it the longest commercial flight in the world, Air Transport World reports.

'This opens up direct service from Australia to Europe for the first time,' he said.
The potential flight path would need two pairs of pilots, extra cabin crew and a proper rest area for airline staff.
To make the long haul journey in 19 hours, the planes most likely would need to fly over Crimea which is currently a no-fly-zone since the Malaysia Airlines aircraft was shot down last year.
The return journey from London to Perth has raised some concerns in case an alternate airport need to be used in the case of an emergency.

The closest airport to Perth is in Adelaide, which is more than 2,000 kilometres away.
Qantas has already ordered eight Boeing 787-9 planes to replace it 747 fleet of aircrafts.
The new aircrafts will have roughly 250 seats and include business class, premium economy and economy.
Qantas already carries out the longest haul route in the world from Sydney to Dallas-Fort Worth.
